Tungsten Carbide Seal Rings

Description of Tungsten Carbide Seal Rings:

The most critical part of mechanical seal is the circle in contact with rotating ring and stationary seal ring. This is where the action takes place. The friction in contacting simultaneously generates heat and seals the fluid. Selecting the correct seal ring can ensure reliability. They require hardness, rigidity, chemical resistance, thermal conductivity, toughness and wear resistance. Seal face combinations need to be optimized for the process fluid being sealed.

Tungsten Carbide Seal Rings Production:

Tungsten carbide is one of the most common seal ring materials. We produce it by heating tungsten carbide powder and a metallic binder to 1500℃ to melt and fuse. Under steady production process and strict quality control, our tungsten carbide seal ring is with good abrasion resistance and more dense than other seal ring materials.

There are two forms of surfaces of ring: Blank and finished surface.

We also have two metal binders for your choice. One is cobalt, the other is nickel.

If you need to use tungsten carbide seal ring to be chemical resistant, it is better to use 6 percent to 10 percent nickel as a binder. In any case, check the chemical compatibility of nickel and cobalt when using tungsten carbide in strong acids, as these chemicals can attack binders, causing premature seal failure.

Tungsten Carbide Seal Rings Applications:

Tungsten carbide seal ring is used mainly for wastewater pump, water discharge pump for the mines, centrifugal pump, centrifuge, slag slurry pump and slurry pump in the adverse working conditions of high-speed rotation, sand flush abrasion, and corrosion.

Specifically, with the highest tensile strength, tungsten carbide seal rings are normally used in applications that involve high torque and vibration. It's also used in high-pressure and large-diameter applications because its high modulus of elasticity reduces seal face distortion.
