Plasma Gasification Torches Electrodes and Nozzles

There are transferred mode, non-transferred mode operated plasma torches.

In these torches, the common materials are Copper (Cu), Hafnium (Hf), Tungsten (W), etc.

There are lots of factors which can influence the life time of electrodes’ life:

● Material of electrode

● Purity of the electrode

● Type of gas used

● Level of gas consumption

● Current

We produce tungsten or copper from powder to finished products and pay much attention to product purity and density.

Which material to choose for your plasma torches:

Cost and performance: If you need a lower cost, then the performance and life time will be not so good. If you can put more, then you can get more.

Longer life time and reduced maintenance time:

Normally copper electrode life is about 200-300 hours. But tungsten electrode can be up to 500 hours. Longer life can save replace and maintenance time too.

For steam plasma arc torches, the electrodes(cathode) are made from tungsten and the nozzle (anode) are made from tungsten. All steam plasma arc torches have an argon protection of tungsten cathode. A consumption of argon is 0.2-0.5 g/s. It is lets to increase the lifetime of the electrodes and to raise the efficiency of steam plasma arc torches.
